Team Building Carbon Offset Challenge

Carbon-offset Challenge will educate your group on how to calculate carbon emissions created by their day-to-day lives.

With food being an important part, the challenge begins with a briefing on the importance of utilising fresh produce, close to home (slow foods). The group will be divided into teams and given locations of the local farms to visit in the region. Farmers will provide an informative address on their own unique product from beef production to fresh herbs and vegetables to succulent fruits.
 
This component of the challenge aims at collecting fresh ingredients from the farmers for the group luncheon, whilst taking into account the carbon emissions generated during their seasonal production. Each team will put their artistic talents to the test by utilising their collected produce and coming up with an award-winning recipe.

The teams will work together in preparing their sumptuous dishes whilst carefully calculating emission levels of all ingredients. The head chef (MC) will conduct on the spot interviews and during the process the action will be filmed and projected onto large screens. Facilitating the judging during the course of lunch the (MC) will award the winning team with trophies.

With their newfound skills the 2nd component of this challenge involves combining their lunch challenge emissions to the teams overall program consumption. Air travel, heat, light and power will be measured to the quantity of trees required to offset their carbon footprint. Once the calculation has been established they will be taken to a location and provided with the necessary tools to get planting. Certificates will be provided as mementos for the contribution they have made to the environment. This activity is educational, rewarding and hugely important to our planet's future.
